Convicted felon stopped with firearm and ammo outside Family Discount Mart

A Leesburg man was arrested for a firearm and ammunition found in his vehicle during a traffic stop at Family Discount Mart.

An officer observed 55-year-old Glenn Edward Hemingway pulling a trailer with a white Chevrolet truck westbound on Griffin Road at 2:50 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

As the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of Family Discount Mart, located at 2201 Griffin Rd., the officer noticed the window tint seemed to be too dark. The trailer’s tag had also expired in January. He subsequently conducted a traffic stop on the truck and spoke to Hemingway, who was still in the driver’s seat, the report said.

A passenger went into the store and was coming back to the vehicle during their conversation. The officer told Hemingway about the expired trailer registration before using a tint meter on the front windows, getting a reading of 4%. After more units arrived at the scene, A K-9 was used to check for narcotics, rendering a positive alert, the report said…
