Trail cam catches two trespassers entering home without permission

A pair of trespassers from Wildwood landed behind bars after a property owner caught them on a trail cam making an unlawful entry.

Deputies responded to a burglary in progress at a residence on U.S. Hwy. 301 in Wildwood at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The caller could see two people, later identified as 36-year-old Michael Rafael Leo Garza and 32-year-old Melanie Iris Hogans, entering the home through a trail cam.

Upon arrival, deputies found the property to be heavily overgrown with vegetation. It was a single story block house, which was not inhabited at the moment. The gate leading to the residence was along the highway and had a clearly posted “No Trespassing Sign” on it, the report said.

Law enforcement proceeded to surround the residence and commanded anyone inside to come out. At that point, Garza and Hogans exited through the front door where they were detained, the report said…
