Driver found passed out in middle of the road, ‘too drunk’ to answer questions

A Leesburg man was arrested for DUI after officers found an open beer in his vehicle parked in the middle of the road.

Dispatchers got a call about 28-year-old Joshua Reyes seemingly passed out in a gray Hyundai Ascent on Emerson Street around 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Officers found him in the middle of the road, unconscious in the driver’s seat with the keys in the ignition. There was also an open container of a 25oz Natty Daddly lager beer in the cupholder and an opened can of the same drink in the passenger seat. When evaluated by EMS, he was “too drunk” and could not accurately answer questions about himself or where he was at, the report said.

His eyes were extremely glossy, and he seemed dazed just prior to being taken to UF Health Leesburg Hospital, located at 600 E Dixie Ave. After being admitted to a room, he agreed to participate in field sobriety exercises. But he did the first one so poorly that no other tests were done out of concern for safety, and he refused to submit to a breath or urine test, the report said…
