A homeless woman in Leesburg is due in court next week for a crack pipe found on her person during an arrest last December.
An officer noticed three women walking north on Tuskegee Street at 10:50 a.m., Dec. 28, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department. One of them he recognized as 33-year-old Matasha Renise McCray, who he knew had Lake County warrants for narcotics charges. After confirming the warrant was still active, the officer placed McCray under arrest.
He also searched her person and discovered a glass pipe in her jacket pocket. The pipe had burnt residue and a Brillo filter in the end, the style of which was common in smoking crack cocaine. McCray advised that it was an old pipe that belonged to her, but a “friend” used it earlier in the morning to smoke crack cocaine, the report said…
