Residents’ concerns about abuse of amenities need to be taken seriously

I am a full-time resident of The Villages, and like many others here, I pay a significant monthly amount for access to our recreational amenities — golf, swimming, tennis, pickleball, shuffleboard, and the facilities at our recreation centers.

These amenities are not public spaces. They are funded by residents who worked hard throughout their lives to earn the opportunity to live here and enjoy what The Villages offers. For that reason, it is deeply frustrating to see non-residents regularly using these facilities without challenge or consequence.

Residents pay for this pool. It is not “my pool” personally, but it is our pool collectively—paid for by Village residents. While I sympathize with those who may not have similar amenities in their own communities, that is not the responsibility of Village residents to resolve…
