Fatal Mistake: Two Dead In Lady Lake After Golf Cart Runs Red Light

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – Two people lost their lives Friday night when their golf cart drove into the path of an oncoming car on U.S. 27, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:35 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 109. Troopers reported that a 64-year-old man from Lady Lake was driving a golf cart westbound on CR-109 when he failed to stop for a red traffic signal.

As the cart entered the intersection, it was struck by a Kia Soul traveling southbound on U.S. 27. The force of the collision caused the golf cart to overturn, eventually coming to rest on the southwest corner of the intersection…
