Leesburg High Softball Coach Amber Prescott Dies at 37 Following Heart Attack

Amber Prescott, the head softball coach at Leesburg High School who revitalized a long-struggling program and touched countless lives, has sadly passed away.

Coach Prescott suffered a heart attack last August and was subsequently hospitalized with severe brain swelling. Despite an intense and courageous fight, she has sadly passed away, leaving behind a grieving community, her husband Thomas Prescott, and their three young children.

Known for her unwavering determination, Amber poured her heart into rebuilding the Leesburg Lady Yellow Jackets softball program over the past several years. She took a team that had endured decades of losing seasons and transformed it into a competitive, winning squad, all while emphasizing character, growth, and life lessons that extended far beyond the playing field.

Amber and her husband Thomas also put in work to spruce up the softball complex bringing new life to a once aging field.

But for many, her legacy isn’t just about wins and losses. Amber was a truly great person who saw the best in people. She saw the best in her players and wanted them to do good on and off the field, whether they continued playing after high school or simply carried forward the lessons she taught for life.

More than a coach, Amber was remembered as a devoted mother, a loyal friend, and an inspiration to students, athletes, parents and colleagues throughout Lake County and beyond…
