New calendar pairs Marion County’s first responders with shelter pets to support lifesaving programs

Marion County Fire Rescue has teamed up with Marion County Animal Services to release a new calendar that pairs local first responders with shelter animals in need of a home.

The “Rescuers & Rescues 2026 Pet Calendar” was officially announced on Monday, Jan. 5. The project features MCFR personnel posing alongside adoptable pets, creating a visual celebration of “service, compassion, and second chances.”

Calendars are available for purchase for $15 and can be picked up in person at the Marion County Animal Shelter, located at 5701 SE 66th Street in Ocala.

Proceeds from the sales will benefit the animal shelter through PETS of Marion County, a non-profit organization that supports lifesaving programs and care for the facility’s residents.

To encourage adoptions, officials have added a special incentive for the new year: Anyone who purchases a calendar during the month of January will have their pet adoption fees waived…
