Teenager caught exceeding 100 mph on his way to work in Leesburg

An Ocala teen was arrested after being stopped for driving over 100 miles per hour on the way to work in Leesburg.

A deputy saw 19-year-old Brandon Allan Peas speed by in a dark vehicle on County Road 44 around 1:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Radar confirmed he was going 111 mph in a 55-mph zone, leading to a traffic stop at West Main Street and Satellite Court in Leesburg.

Peas advised that he was traveling from Ocala to Leesburg for work. He was aware he had been speeding but did not realize he was going up to 111 mph, believing he was going about 100 mph instead. His eyes looked glassy, as well, which he attributed to having just woken up. He volunteered to perform any sobriety or drug tests to prove he was not under the influence, the report said…
