Tampa hunter unlawfully shoots two ducks at Emeralda Marsh in Leesburg

A Tampa man will appear in court for shooting two ducks on a day closed to hunters at Emeralda Marsh in Leesburg.

An officer heard several gunshots at Emeralda Marsh at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, according to a resource citation from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. He was able to find the source of the gunshots and saw 23-year-old Jack Allen Wilty in a green jon boat returning to the Area 3 boat ramp.

When questioned about his hunting that morning, Wilty acknowledged being in Area 3. An inspection of his boat revealed two ring neck ducks, the report said…
