Boyfriend allegedly strangles woman for refusing to give his phone back

A Summerfield man was arrested after allegedly strangling his girlfriend for going through his phone when she got a text from his ex.

Officers responded to a battery involving 25-year-old Zian Davion King and his girlfriend of six months at an undisclosed residence around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Upon arrival, they met with the girlfriend as King left the scene in a black sedan. He was later stopped in the Fruitland Park Plaza, located at 3335 U.S. Hwy. 441, Fruitland Park, where he refused to talk, the report said.

Meanwhile, the girlfriend told officers that she had woken up from a nap and saw a text on her phone from King’s ex-girlfriend. She then woke him up and asked to see his texts. While she was reviewing them, he asked that she give him the phone back, the report said…
