Homeless man allegedly burglarizes multiple work trucks and steals equipment

A homeless man in Leesburg was arrested after allegedly breaking into multipe work trucks and stealing their equipment.

An officer responded to Precision Off Road and Truck Accessories, located at 1100 S 14th St., regarding a burglary later found to involve 36-year-old Ryan Scott Girdvainis on the morning of Jan. 6, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The business rents a section of the property to Updike Welding and to PCS Pest Control, Inc.

The owner of Precision stated that sometime between 3 and 6 a.m., both his gold 2016 and white 2012 International semi-tractor trucks were broken into. He inspected the vehicles before the officer got there and learned the 2012 truck was missing a $400 mattress. The interior of the 2016 truck was damaged, as well, with several wires pulled from the dashboard needing $3,500 in repairs, the report said.

Additionally, a second victim advised that his white 2016 Freightliner semi-tractor truck had been broken into. He last saw his vehicle on the evening of Jan. 5, but a recent inspection revealed several papers scattered inside.
