A Villager wanted on a stalking charge was arrested in the Village of Chitty Chatty.
Andrew Cecil Benge, 61, who lives at 805 Evans Way in the Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the Julia Villas in the Village of Chitty Chatty.
A warrant had been issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in Sumter County Court on a stalking charge.
The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native was originally arrested in 2020 after allegedly stalking his estranged girlfriend multiple times. Benge is accused of showing up at her parents’ home in The Villages. He also reportedly approached her at a restaurant and then stood over her and yelled, “This is The Villages whore!” The woman claimed his behavior traumatized her to the point that she was experiencing restlessness and required medication.
