An Ocala woman with a warrant was arrested on drug charges when deputies spotted her in the lobby of Quality Suites.
Deputies got an anonymous tip about 36-year-old Monique Shanoah Kelch staying at the Red Roof Inn, located at 345 E SR 44, Wildwood, around 12 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. She had an active warrant out of Marion County for larceny related charges, so they responded to the inn to find her.
While she was not there, the deputies checked neighboring hotels and spotted Kelch in the lobby of Quality Suites, located at 271 E SR 44, Wildwood. They then spoke with her, noticing a black ski mask in her hands. There were pieces of tin foil with burnt residue sticking out from the mask, as well, the report said.
The deputies took it from her, and she immediately asked that they just throw it away. A subsequent test of the tin foil confirmed the presence of methamphetamine. A more in-depth search of the mask yielded straws with powder and burnt residue, pieces of Brillo pad and an oxycodone hydrochloride pill. Kelch later claimed the pill was fake, the report said…
