Honduran who has been in U.S. for 12 years arrested after traffic stop in The Villages

A Honduran who has lived in the United States for a dozen years is being turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after a traffic stop in The Villages.

An officer noticed a blue Toyota SUV traveling near Magnolia Plaza around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. A check of the vehicle’s tag revealed the registered owner, 44-year-old Juan Anibal Reyes Vargas, did not have a license issued to him. He had also been arrested before, the report noted.

During the traffic stop, Reyes Vargas admitted he did not have a license and instead handed over a Honduran passport. He added that he has lived and worked in Florida for the past 12 years, the report said.

A check of his criminal history showed he was convicted of driving without a license in November in Sumter County. He also failed to pay a traffic ticket in Miami-Dade County, the report said…
