Two men stopped with narcotics and stolen firearm near convenience store

A pair of Lake County men were arrested when officers found narcotics and a stolen firearm in their vehicle near a convenience store.

Officers stopped a white Ford F-150 for not coming to a complete stop before leaving the parking lot of Bob’s Zippy Market, located at 311 N Dixie Ave., around 7:40 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. They then spoke to the driver, 25-year-old Hunter Lee Wood of Eustis, and three passengers, including 25-year-old Michael Elijah Worrell of Fruitland Park.

During a conversation with Wood, he became nervous when asked about anything illegal in the vehicle. He stuttered before eventually advising that a set of speakers was the only thing that belonged to him in the truck. He still gave his consent for it to be searched, the report said.

The officers subsequently found a backpack with cartoon graphics in the driver’s seat. Inside was a hollowed-out ballpoint pen with narcotic residue and a piece of foil with burnt fentanyl. Also in the backpack was a victim’s rights pamphlet issued by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for a case in which Wood was the victim, the report said…
