Government and utility officials are asking residents to reduce electricity usage during peak hours Feb. 1 and early Feb. 2 as this area experiences extreme cold.
In a Facebook video posted Feb. 1, Ocala Mayor Ben Marciano asked residents to reduce power usage between 7 and 10 p.m. Feb. 1, and 6 and 9 a.m. Feb. 2.
A few ways to do so: turn the thermostat down a few degrees; don’t charge electric vehicles or large electronics during these times; limit hot water use; and don’t run big appliances like washers, dryers and dishwashers…
