A sprawling Ocala golf course and country club originally developed by billionaire Frank Stronach has been sold for $63 million to an investment group led by a former high-ranking U.S. Treasury official who most recently held an executive position at Freddie Mac.
The transaction for the 1,274-acre property, formerly known as the Adena Golf & Country Club, was completed in late January. According to state records, the sale took place between Adena GC Holdings LLC and Iron Lake Property LLC on January 29.
The new ownership group, Oculus R Golf Partners, is led by Craig S. Phillips, a longtime finance executive who served as Counselor to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin from 2017 to 2019, under the first administration of President Donald J. Trump.
Phillips and his partners have rebranded the property’s residential community as IronCrest and its private club as The Club at Iron Lake. The former club’s website (www.clubadena.com) now redirects to an alternative website for the new brand.
