Tensions erupted into violence at Ferran Park in Eustis yesterday, leading to one man being arrested for a stabbing incident. The Eustis Police Department, on the chase after a distress call around 1 p.m., initially sought the public’s assistance in finding a man pictured in a released image, said to be involved in the confrontation, as FOX 35 Orlando reported.
The suspect, James Edward Thompson Jr., was later located and apprehended in Leesburg, as reported by ClickOrlando. Details emerged that the altercation was not a random occurrence; the men involved knew each other prior to the mishap unfolding near and within the park premises. Police Chief Craig Capri explained that witnesses, including children, were present during the unfortunate event. “They saw a fight, because it was all close-quarters battle,” Capri said in a statement.
Surveillance footage provided by the authorities depicted Thompson traversing the park shortly before the incident took place, adding to the evidence against him just before he fled the scene.
