Jury deadlocks in case of grandson accused of killing grandfather

Defense lawyer John Klein said Mike Anthony Jones Jr. was legally justified in shooting and killing his grandfather, William Pray, on Dec. 26, 2022 after a family dispute.

Prosecutors Janine Nixon and Lillian Rozsa argued that Jones murdered his grandfather and therefore should be convicted of second-degree murder with a firearm.

In her closing argument on Feb. 20, Rozsa said Jones’ intention was criminal and he should be punished. Klein, who was assisted by paralegal Melody Hoover, said Pray was a violent man and Jones did not want to kill his 56-year-old grandfather, but was forced to do so in self defense…
