Man tased in front of his own house after exhibiting erratic behavior

A Fruitland Park man was arrested on drug charges after being chased down with fentanyl in his hand.

An officer arrived on Duckweed Avenue regarding a suspicious person, later identified as 32-year-old Charles Randall Carpinelli, in the backyard of a nearby home on Atlantic Avenue around 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. The complainant advised that he was talking to himself and moving erratically.

Upon arrival, the officer spotted Carpinelli standing behind his own home on Duckweed Avenue. He looked directly at the patrol vehicle, immediately turned around and started quickly walking away. When told to stop, he began running eastbound and cut between two homes, the report said.

As the deputy caught up, Carpinelli tried to force open the main entrance door of his house with his body. The deputy ordered him to drop to the ground, and he raised his arms in the air in a defensive motion. He seemed to be holding a cylindrical object in his hand intended to be used as a defensive weapon, the report said…
