Trail to be dedicated in honor of late Ocala radio duo killed by drunk driver

The county will consider dedicating a local nature trail in honor of Larry Whitler and Robin MacBlane, two iconic radio hosts who spent decades serving Marion County before they were tragically lost in an accident caused by a drunk driver who ran a red light.

The request is part of the agenda for the Marion County Board of County Commissioners’ upcoming regular meeting on Tuesday, March 3.

The dedication at Horseshoe Lake Park & Retreat follows a request made by Whitler’s brother, Thomas, who asked the board in November to establish a lasting tribute to the pair’s lifelong commitment to environmental conservation.
