Speeding DUI suspect arrested while driving home after night out with friends

A Leesburg woman was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after swerving over the edge lines on the road while driving back from a bar with friends.

Officers on patrol spotted a vehicle going 63 miles per hour in a 40-mph zone on County Road 561 around 3:05 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, according to an arrest report from the Astatula Police Department. While catching up to the driver, later identified as 24-year-old Megan Elizabeth Warfield, they saw her cross left of the center line and right of the fog line multiple times.

Due to this, the officers stopped her on County Road 48 near Ranch Road. She smelled like marijuana and admitted to smoking recently. When asked to step out of the vehicle, she stumbled, swayed back and forth, and could not keep her balance. Her eyes were watery and bloodshot, as well, the report said.

A search of the vehicle ensued, during which an officer standing next to Warfield noticed the smell of alcohol coming from her person. Officers searching her vehicle found a small white medical marijuana bag labeled with another woman’s name. They also discovered a wet stain in the middle of the driver’s seat, where Warfield stated she possibly went to the bathroom on herself, the report said…
