A Summerfield man was arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot a woman with her own gun when she tried to leave his home.
Dispatchers got a call from a woman stating 60-year-old David Oscar Wellington hit her at his residence on Southeast 131st Place in Summerfield around 11:55 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
During the call, he had a gun pointed at the female victim. She begged him to let her go as he continued threatening her. The voices in the background became muffled and harder to understand at times, but dispatchers heard Wellington threaten to shoot the woman at least twice, the report said.
Deputies responded to the residence where Wellington made multiple threats of engaging with them in a lethal situation. Shortly after, a U-Haul truck started coming toward deputies. This was determined to be the victim driving away from Wellington, the report said…
