OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Marion County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution unanimously to close an abandoned Tract A, the Carriage Trail plat, at their Tuesday, March 3, 2026, meeting.
Tract A was identified as a conservation and future right-of-way easement, said Steven Cohoon, Marion County engineer. The subject property is located just north of the Greenway, east of HWY 475 and just slightly south of 80th St. On Sept. 16, 2025, a request was made to develop a portion of the tract that was denied for the property to the east. The property to the east does have legal access and they will still be able to travel in and out of their property. This section of Tract A has never been developed. At the 2025 meeting, there was direction given by the Marion County Board of County Commissioners to the community if they want to ensure there’s no future development of this that they need to go through this process.
The Marion County Property Appraiser will determine how the property will be split back. Cohoon is relatively certain based on the parcel lines for the individual adjacent property owners, but the engineer hasn’t had the conversation with the property appraiser–that’s what he’s expecting to occur…
