Marion commissioners forgive $3,659 lien for mother’s 25-day jail stay in 2018

A single mother who achieved sobriety in 2021 has been granted a conditional reduction of her incarceration debt after delivering an emotional testimony before the Marion County Board of County Commissioners, who swayed from their normal course of action in these types of proceedings.

Sarah Ames appeared before the board on Tuesday, January 6, to request the forgiveness of a civil restitution lien totaling $3,229.91.
