Villager ordered to stay away from booze in wake of DUI arrest

A Villager has been ordered not to consume alcohol in the wake of a drunk driving arrest.

William Burton Pringle III, 64, who lives in the Escandido Villas near Savannah Center, pleaded no contest this past week in Lake County Court to a charge of driving under the influence. In addition to abstaining from alcohol, he has been placed on probation for one year, has lost his driver’s license for six months and has been ordered to perform 50 hours of community service, although he can “buy out” at a rate of $10 per hour.

He was driving a gray Kia SUV at about 9 p.m. May 17 on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 approaching Griffin View Drive when he was caught traveling at 65 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

During a traffic stop, it appeared Pringle had been drinking. He said he had been at a local pizza restaurant and was returning home. A check of his driver’s license revealed he has a restriction for driving for business purposes only…
