I am a relative newbie to The Villages. I bought in June 2025, but visited many times for two years prior. I do wish this was a true gated community, but understand with the great size it probably is not feasible. I still find the gates add something to the community. They define when you are inside The Villages and at least give impression that it is a gated area.
I know some of the gates help to control the traffic to maintain safe travel for all types of vehicles. I have been in meetings where the use of video at these gates was described and how the review of the videos has helped in police investigations.
Please keep the gates!
