A drunk driving suspect crashed her car while passing a golf cart in The Villages.
Kathleen Mary Hutchinson, 62, of Lady Lake, called AAA for a tow at about 3 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Jason Drive and Mark Drive in the Village of Silver Lake, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Her white Chevrolet had a flat tire and had crashed into a speed limit sign. When the tow truck driver arrived, he realized that Hutchinson had been involved in a crash and decided not to tow the vehicle until police responded to the scene.
When an officer arrived, Hutchinson told the officer that she had “swerved to pass a golf cart.” The officer immediately suspected that Hutchinson had been driving impaired as she had been hanging onto a flagpole to support herself. She fell to the ground and was unable to get back onto her feet.
A witness said she was in her yard and saw the crash. She said the Chevy had been driving on the wrong side of the road when it hit the sign and the vehicle became disabled…
