Wife flees to church after husband leaves her at bar then points gun at man who gave her a ride

A Leesburg man was arrested for assault after allegedly firing two shots during an altercation with his wife and a tow truck driver.

A deputy responded to the Lisbon Church of God, located at 10509 Goose Prairie Rd., Leesburg, regarding a verbal altercation with a deadly weapon at the home of 55-year-old Robert Jason Mumford around 2:25 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Mumford’s wife advised that he had left her at a bar earlier that night, and a tow truck driver offered to bring her home. When they got there, Mumford came out and fired two shots at them. He has a history of domestic violence, and she predicted he would assault her when she returned home, the report said.

She added that he is a convicted felon and should not have firearms. When asked what she would like to do about the situation, she stated she did not care anymore, the report said…
