A Wildwood man was arrested on drug charges when deputies found him stranded on the roadside with methamphetamine and several pipes.
Deputies spotted a white van sitting on the side of U.S. 301 and County Road 656 in Webster at 1 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The driver, 42-year-old Brandon Wade Jenkins, advised that the vehicle ran out of gas, so the deputies volunteered to bring him some from the closest gas station.
About 30 minutes later, they returned with the gas. They also noticed Jenkins had several knives on his person, which he was asked to remove for safety reasons. He added that there was a foldable knife in his wallet and consented to the deputies taking it out, the report said.
As they did so, they found methamphetamine next to the knife. A search of the vehicle followed, revealing a black bag on the center console. It contained a glass bubble pipe, two short glass pipes, and a handmade pipe made of two glass pipes attached to a medicine bottle.
