Suspected stalker arrested after repeatedly staring at woman at Pear Park in Leesburg

A Leesburg man was arrested for allegedly stalking a woman who liked to go for walks at Pear Park.

A woman started taking walks in Pear Park, located at 4800 University Ave., Leesburg, back in December of last year, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Now a frequent parkgoer, she noticed 69-year-old Ted Lamar Kirkland would drive by her parking space in a gold Chevrolet SUV at least four to five times, left and right, back and forth.

She never left her vehicle due to feeling unsafe while he did this. This exact incident happened five times in less than two weeks at different times of day. Then, in January, he began showing up at the park while she was there at different times of the day, the report said.

Kirkland still passed her vehicle, now up to five or six times, while “aggressively” staring at her. He would proceed to back in next to her and constantly stare at her. This happened five or six times in a single week at different times of the day, the report said…
