16 men arrested in Central Florida undercover operation targeting child predators

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Last month in Central Florida, 16 men were arrested in an undercover operation focusing on predators who target children online, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said.

Multiple agencies were involved in the effort, including the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Lake City, Orlando, and St. Cloud police departments.

Between March 18 and March 21, undercover officers posing as teens aged 13, 14 or 15 made contact with men on chatrooms and “escort websites,” Uthmeier said.

Fifteen of the men arrested were taken into custody after traveling to meet a minor for sex, but were instead met with police officers. One man was arrested in Hillsborough County on a warrant, the Osceola sheriff said…
