Cop recognizes teen driver who shouldn’t have been behind wheel

A Fruitland Park teen was arrested for driving with eight active suspensions on his license.

An officer was watching traffic on Picciola Road when a black Mitsubishi SUV passed by around 7:40 p.m. Monday, March 30, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. Through the window, he recognized 19-year-old Justin Michael Vinson as the driver.

He had a suspended driver’s license, which the officer was aware of from two prior law enforcement encounters. That very officer had issued Vinson a citation for driving without a license during one of them. In fact, a check of his driving history showed eight active suspensions or cancellations to his license, the report said.

Seeing this, the officer initiated a traffic stop as Vinson turned onto Lake Unity Road. He continued until eventually pulling over in the driveway of his home on that road. He confirmed that he did not have a license with him at the time, the report said…
