Ocala City Council voting on $150,000 workers’ comp settlement for longtime employee

The Ocala City Council will vote on a proposed $150,000 settlement to resolve a workers’ compensation claim for a 30-year city employee who was injured while removing a manhole cover.

A settlement for Thomas Casey, 61, will be discussed during the council’s next meeting on Tuesday, April 7.

According to the mediation settlement reached on March 5, the $150,000 “washout” agreement is inclusive of all attorney fees and costs. From the total amount, Casey is expected to net $107,500 after his attorney receives $37,500 in fees and up to $5,000 for litigation expenses…
