Man on bicycle flees gas station with two pints of stolen ice cream

A Summerfield man was arrested after allegedly stealing two pints of Blue Bell ice cream from a gas station.

A shift manager at Happy Dave’s gas station, located at 16644 S U.S. Hwy. 441, Summerfield, flagged down a deputy at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. She then described how 42-year-old Jason Patrick Knowles stole $8.58 worth of ice cream from the business and left on a red bicycle.

He was ultimately found along the highway at Southeast 173rd Street riding the same bicycle. As he was being handcuffed, he stated he forgot to pay for the ice cream he had just stolen from the store. A search of his person revealed two unopened Blue Bell pints of ice cream in his bag, the report said.

A later check of Knowles’ criminal history revealed three prior theft convictions, one in Lake County on June 14, 2009, and two in Marion County on Nov. 19, 2020, and March 19, 2025, the report said…
