A Clermont man was arrested for driving with a revoked license after handing over a 2021 license as his ID.
A deputy on patrol spotted a silver 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck with only one working headlight headed west in Wildwood around 10:55 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. After being stopped on State Road 44, the driver, 22-year-old Chase Austin Cavender, handed over his driver’s license.
A check through two law enforcement databases revealed Cavender had only an ID card, not a valid license. He thought he had a valid license because he had just paid a ticket at the DMV and believed his license would be reinstated. However, further inspection of the license he gave the deputy showed an issuance date in 2021. His current license had been revoked in 2026 with notification provided, the report said.
