N.J. man arrested at apartment complex after alleged attack

A New Jersey man was arrested at an apartment complex in Wildwood after allegedly attacking his girlfriend and his brother.

Kevin Astudillo, 31, is facing a felony charge of battery by strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of battery following his arrest at about 6 a.m. Saturday at The Wilds at Trailwinds Village, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

Astudillo, his girlfriend and his brother went drinking in Orlando. They were returning to Wildwood in the girlfriend’s Tesla Model 3 bearing New Jersey license plates when she and Astudillo got into a verbal argument. Astudillo began hitting her in the face and she tried to shield herself. The brother tried to intervene and defend the woman, but Astudillo punched him in the face and started to choke him. The girlfriend told Astudillo to stop, but he began “swearing and yelling” at her. He choked the woman until she lost consciousness. They returned to the apartment in Wildwood where Astudillo struck the woman across the face. Police arrived at the apartment complex after a 911 hangup call. The girlfriend and brother both described Astudillo as an “abusive” person and said it was not the first time he had gotten physical with them.

Police found Astudillo naked in the shower. He downplayed the incident and described it as a “scuffle.” He was identified by his New Jersey driver’s license…
