Oxford man arrested at Taco Bell after methamphetamine found in pickup

An Oxford man was arrested on drug charges after being pulled over at Taco Bell with methamphetamine in his truck.

A deputy observed 50-year-old Jeremy Scott Morgan driving a grey Dodge pickup truck westbound on State Road 44 near the intersection of Interstate 75 in Wildwood around 12:20 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

While driving behind him, the deputy noticed his vehicle’s tag lights were very dim and did not light up the license plate whatsoever. He then stopped Morgan at Taco Bell, located at 428 SR 44. A K-9 unit responded to the stop to check for narcotics as the deputy collected Morgan’s license and registration, the report said.

The K-9 ultimately alerted to the odor of narcotics, so the deputies searched the vehicle. They located a reflective jacket behind the driver’s seat and looked in the pockets to find a clear plastic baggie of methamphetamine, the report said…
