Villager facing shoplifting charges after allegedly stealing paper towels and M&Ms

A Villager is facing shoplifting charges after allegedly stealing paper towels and M&Ms from Walmart.

David Glenn Selkow, 67, of the Village of St. Johns, was arrested recently on warrants charging him with two counts of theft.

Selkow had gone Dec. 21 to the Walmart at Sarasota Plaza in The Villages where he selected two 12-packs of Coca-Cola, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. After he put the 12-packs in a shopping cart, he headed for the candy aisle where he selected a 38-ounce party size bag of M&Ms valued at $12.97. He went through the self-checkout and paid for the Coca-Cola, but did not pay for the M&Ms. He left in a black Chevrolet SUV registered to his wife. A surveillance camera picked up the SUV’s license plate number.

The store’s loss prevention officer also reported to deputies that Selkow was a suspect in a prior theft at the store. He allegedly went through the self-checkout aisle on May 22 and did not pay for a 10 triple roll pack of Bounty paper towels. The paper towels were priced at $27.66. He also had water and milk in the shopping cart, and he paid for those items…
