Suspect in Lake County shooting hunted down through Facebook

An Ocala man was arrested on a warrant this week after his Facebook profile identified him as the suspect who shot a man’s foot.

A detective with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting on Biscayne Drive in Grand Island on Nov. 23, 2025, according to an affidavit of probable cause out of Lake County. The male victim had been shot in the foot after an altercation with 26-year-old Jason William Hernandez, who ran east and was believed to have been picked up with the victim’s firearm.

The victim shared his belief that Hernandez, whom he knew by the nickname “Silent,” stole several firearms from him about a month before this incident. Hernandez came to his residence that day to tell him where the guns could be. However, he brought another man with him who made the victim feel unsafe, so he had a shotgun in his hands pointed at the ground, the affidavit said.

Hernandez asked why he had the gun out before snatching it out of his hands and pointing it at his chest. The victim grabbed the gun, and the two fought until the firearm went off. This shot a 12-gauge slug into the victim’s foot, the affidavit said…
