OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A metro woman is sounding the alarm about the conditions inside the Oklahoma County Jail after she spent days inside.
“We have human beings in this place being treated worse than we do animals,” said Pauline Simone, a former inmate of the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
Problems continue to mount up at Oklahoma County Jail
Simone spent six days in jail for a misdemeanor. She describes the conditions as “inhumane.”“We went into a holding cell, very overcrowded, very dirty, sack lunches everywhere,” said Pauline. “Smells of urine. You couldn’t walk. You had to literally step over people. The benches were completely full. There was probably 40, 45, or 50 people in there. We were just crammed in there like sardines.”
She was then placed in a cell alone for nearly 48 hours.“No clothes, no nothing,” said Pauline. “The cells are absolutely dirty. They are filthy. Feces on the wall, there’s blood. I was in there for 48 hours, and then they took me to the 13th floor.”
When she went to that floor, Pauline said she was placed in a cell with three other people. In the room, only two beds, which forced her to sleep on the floor…
