OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KOAM/KJFX) — As dry conditions persist across the K-O-A-M region fires are spreading more rapidly and have intensified.
Just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2026, OKC firefighters responded to four house fires at the same time in the 1000 block of Hyacinth Hollow.
Two off-duty OKCFD firefighters who were in the area assisted an adult female out of the original home. The resident attempted to go back inside for her pets but was kept safely outside. One dog was later rescued from the home (pictured).
As the fire spread into the attic, it compromised a gas line, creating a blowtorch-like effect that directly exposed the home to the south and contributed to the rapid spread of the fire…
