OG&E prepares for future outages, maintaining poles and expanding automation

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — One of the biggest tools OG&E is using is automation. A device called an “IntelliRupter” can find a problem on the power line, single out the area, and then help get power back on for customers.

“They started on a system around 2010. But we’ve since then, with different projects, we’re continuing to add them and to add more automation to our system,” said Toby Tilley, foreman of distribution automation at OG&E.

In the past, crews have had to drive out, find the problem, and isolate it themselves…
