Yesterday was the wettest day we’ve seen in years! Record daily maximum rainfall was set in Oklahoma City yesterday. OKC recorded 5.59″ of rainfall yesterday, which breaks the old record for the day of 2.45″ set in 1956. Yesterday was one of the wettest days at Will Rodgers all time (TOP 10) and the 3rd highest October calendar day total.
Weather Warn Day for this morning with a chance for additional flooding. Flooding is a concern for us today! Another very rainy start to our day. Oklahoma City has already picked up just under 7″ of rainfall in the last 48 hours. OKC has seen as much rainfall in just the last 48 hours than the last 4 full months combined. Since June 15th, Oklahoma City has seen 7.05″ of rainfall, which does not include the last 48 hours where just under 7″ of rainfall fell. All of this rainfall is what we need to help with the current drought conditions, but we don’t want that rain to fall all at once because that’s how flooding occurs. A cold front moving through the state today will clear things up overnight as it pushes the showers and storms eastward. It will also bring in the coldest high temperatures we’ve seen in the last 7 months, since March 16th when we had highs in the 40s. The last time high temperatures dipped below 60 was 7 months ago during the winter season.
Additional Flood Advisories and Flash Flood Warnings have been issued for some areas in the viewing area…
