On Wednesday evening, the San Antonio Spurs are hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder in Texas.
The matchup was highly anticipated, as the two frontrunners for the 2024 Rookie of The Year (Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama) are facing off.
During the first quarter, Wembanyama pulled off a spin move on Holmgren that got a lot of views on social media.
He finished the move with a shot off the glass (over Holmgren).
Wembanyama came into the evening with averages of 20.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 3.2 blocks per contest while shooting 46.4% from the field and 29.9% from the three-point range in 37 games.
He has been on a roll as of late and has scored 20+ points in ten out of his previous 11 games.
That said, the Spurs came into the night as the worst team in the Western Conference with an 8-35 record in their first 43 games.
They are 3-7 over their last ten games and most recently lost to Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers by a score of 133-123.
Following Wednesday’s showdown with the Thunder, the Spurs will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday evening in San Antonio.
