Former Oklahoma Tight End Mark Andrews Assists in Medical Emergency on Flight

On Thursday morning, former Oklahoma and current Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews helped save a woman’s life on a flight from Baltimore to Phoenix.

According to a social media post from Andrew Springs , someone on his flight to Arizona began to have a medical emergency.

Andrews, who suffers from Type 1 Diabetes, stepped into action, helping the medical professionals test the woman’s blood sugar and stabilize her heart rate, according to Springs.

After the plane landed, Springs described Andrews deplaning quickly to avoid any fanfare or publicity for his heroics.

In 2014, Andrews had a health scare of his own, but the Scottsdale, AZ, native was saved by his roommate and Sooners long snapper Wesley Horky .

In three seasons at OU, Andrews tallied 112 catches for 1,765 yards and 22 touchdowns. After earning All-American honors, the talented receiving tight end was selected in the third round of the NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens.

Andrews has gone on to receive three Pro Bowl nods and one All-Pro selection in Baltimore.
