Billing problems for metro ambulance patients grows

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – An Oklahoma City woman says a recent News 4 story —about a person who received an ambulance bill they never should’ve been charged—made her realize the same exact thing happened to her.

That woman says an ambulance from the wrong agency picked her up from the same OU Health Urgent Care Center as a woman who spoke to News 4 on Monday , and sent her a similar bill for over $2000.

On Monday, News 4 talked to Suzanne Olds.

Woman sent $2k bill for ambulance ride that should’ve been free

Olds told News 4 she visited an OU Health Urgent Care center on Czech Hall road, just south of NW 10 th street in Oklahoma City, back in December.

She said a doctor there told her she’d need to be transported by ambulance to a hospital for further treatment.

“They told me they’d be calling EMSA,” Olds said.

She wasn’t worried, because as an Oklahoma City resident and utilities customer, she pays a small fee each month to enroll in EMSAcare.

EMSAcare is a program available to Oklahoma City residents that covers the out-of-pocket costs any customers may receive for EMSA ambulance rides in city limits.
