Snow, rain cause trouble for some OKC metro drivers

OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) – After a night of snow and rain, slick spots on the roadways caused trouble for some drivers across the metro during their morning commute on Monday.

“The roads were slick and hazardous, especially along bridges and on and on overpasses as well,” said Trooper Preston Cox with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. “The Oklahoma Highway Patrol did respond to a significant increase of calls for service.”

Cox said OHP was called to 40 collisions in the Troop A area Monday morning. That area includes Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland, Lincoln, Logan, McClain and Pottawatomie Counties. Someone was injured in four of the collisions.

According to Cox, two of the collisions were hit and runs.

“Weather definitely helped in these collisions, but a lot of them too are human element related,” said Cox. “I encourage people to slow down and take your time getting to work.”

Kenzi Shreve was in the thick of it. She’s been on the road for days traveling from Arizona to Tulsa in a bus with her two dogs.
