OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) – Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City is celebrating its multi-million dollar emergency department expansion.
The $2.6 million expansion was announced in April of 2023 to add square footage to the ER for a new CT scanner and room for more radiology equipment at Mercy’s northwest OKC location.

Mercy says before the expansion, ER patients in need of a CT scan had to be moved to a different floor to receive treatment.
Now, Mercy is celebrating the completed project funded by Herman and LaDonna Meinders. The project added a new CT scanner to serve patients in emergency situations such as strokes, trauma, abdominal pain, chest pain and other conditions.
“Our ER team provides incredible care, but having a CT scanner in the ER helps make that care more streamlined for our patients and co-workers,” said Dr. Lance Watson, chair of the emergency department at Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City. “For stroke patients, getting a CT scan that will lead to a diagnosis as quickly as possible is critical to provide lifesaving care and decrease the possibility of long-term disabilities.”
